Man shot by deputies after body found in trunk in Chino Hills

CHINO HILLS, Calif. (KABC) — At least two people are dead after sheriff’s deputies opened fire in a quiet Chino Hills neighborhood following the discovery of a body inside the trunk of a car.
The incident unfolded late Wednesday night on Wandering Ridge Drive, according to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department.
A surveillance camera in the captured what happened after deputies pulled over a Nissan Altima with Oregon plates overnight.
In the footage, a passenger gets out of the car. The driver also gets out, walks to the trunk and opens it before deputies open fire.
Several hours later, AIR7 was over the scene where there was a covered body on the ground next to the car, as well as several evidence markers. The body still appeared to be in the trunk.
Authorities have not released any information about the victim in the trunk of the car, or whether their death is connected to another crime scene about a mile away on Monteverde Drive.
The identities of the two dead people have not been released. No deputies were hurt in the shooting.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s department said in an Instagram post that there is no threat to the public and that there are no outstanding suspects.
