The Region of Waterloo has published their list of public locations and services which will be impacted by Monday’s Civic Holiday.
This is the full list of service changes for Monday, August 3, provided by the Region of Waterloo’s release on Thursday.
Closed or Limited
Administrative Offices
All Regional administrative offices will be closed. This includes those at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener and 150 Main St. in Cambridge. It will also include Airport Administrative and Home Child Care Offices.
Community Centres/Arenas
All community centres and community arenas will be closed on Civic Monday.
Cooling Spaces
The cooling and clean air space at 150 Main St in Cambridge will remain open between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Garbage, organics, and yard waste collection
There will be no curbside waste collection on Monday. Transfer stations for residential waste drop-off at both the Cambridge and Waterloo Waste Management sites will also be closed on Monday.
Grand River Transit
Grand River Transit (GRT) will operate on a holiday service schedule. You can find the holiday service schedule changes on all regular route schedules.
MobilityPLUS services will remain in operation. Those with subscription trips will have the cancelled automatically for the holiday, so those customers will need to rebook by calling 519-744-2241.
GRT customer service locations will be closed.
Home Child Care
Licensed care will operate as specified by each individual provider.
Home child care officers will be closed.
For urgent issues, call 519-575-4400 and ask for Home Child Care.
Kitchener Memorial Auditorium
The Aud will be closed on Civic Monday.
Region of Waterloo International Airport
Airport operations will not be affected by the Civic Holiday Monday. All airport administration officers however will be closed.
Region of Waterloo Libraries.
All library branches will be closed on Civic Monday. A full list of branch hours can be found at the region’s library website.
Region of Waterloo Museums
Both the Ken Seiling Waterloo Museum and Schneider Haus National Historic Site will open Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Civic Monday.
The McDougall Cottage Historic Site will also be open between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Senior’s Services
The administration offices for Sunnyside Seniors’ Services will be closed on Civic Monday. The Sunnyside Wellness Centre will also be closed.
Community Alzheimer day programs in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo will be closed for the holiday, but overnight stay will remain open.
Service First Contact Centre
The Service First Contact Centre will remain closed 24/7 on August 3.
Welcome Spaces
The Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener, and 150 Main St. in Cambridge will all be closed on Civic Monday.
Open
Kitchener City Hall will remain open on August 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. No in-person services will be available during that time.
Free swimming in outdoor pools will be available. See a full list of pool hours at the City of Kitchener’s ‘Things to Do’ page.
The Activa Sportsplex indoor walking track will be open between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
