Daimler to close Portland manufacturing facility, lay off 375 employees

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Daimler Truck North America announced it will close its Portland manufacturing facility and lay off nearly 400 employees.

Daimler confirmed to FOX 12 on Wednesday it will be closing the Portland facility at the end of the year. The company said production will be relocated to its facilities in the Carolinas.

About 375 positions are expected to be impacted by the closures. The company said they will be providing transition help, severance benefits, career support resources, and opportunities to explore internal openings.

“This decision was not made lightly,” the company said in a statement. “The Portland team has played a critical role in DTNA’s success for decades, and we are deeply grateful for the dedication, expertise, and contributions of our employees.”

Portland will continue to serve as Daimler Truck North America’s headquarters, the company said.
