MARTIN, John Victor Crosby (J.V.C)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of John V.C. Martin on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at the age of 77.

John proudly served as a dedicated officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for 37.5 years, earning the respect of his colleagues and the communities he served. In retirement, he continued his commitment to public service through more than 14 years of volunteering at the Sault Area Hospital, where his kindness and compassion touched many lives.

John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Micheline (née Bouchard), with whom he shared a deep love and many unforgettable adventures travelling the world together. He is also survived by his children, Erik Martin (Kristen), Kelly Martin (Jim), Christine Kensit (Peter) and Mark Kensit (Annette). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Gabriel, Freddy, Rolly and Ruby Martin, Izzy Martin, Marty Craig, Cooper Kensit-Uhlman, Charlotte, David and Tyler Kensit. John will be deeply missed by his fur baby, Zoey (Zozo).

Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Hildred Martin, and by his in-laws, Gérard and Fernande Bouchard. Brother-in-law of Fernand Bouchard (Hélène), René Bouchard (Maura), late Ginette Woolley (husband Bob), Johanne Moriarty (late Mel) and Sylvie Mackey (Jim). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews and many dear friends, including Dave Stokes.

Family and friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522) on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Rev. We would like to extend a deep appreciation to the EMS team, Dr. Woolridge, Dr. Garniss, Dr. Friz and the nursing staff for working so tirelessly at trying to keep John with us. Special thank you to neighbours Marcel Provenzano, Mariette and Carl White, and nurses Shannon, Sydney and Justine for being there for us.
