Renowned television presenter Rachel Riley has admitted she and her husband Pasha Kovalev have some work to do when it comes to discussing money with their children.
Rachel, 40, and Pasha, 46, who met on Strictly Come Dancing, have two children together: six-year-old Maven and four-year-old Noa.
Despite their young ages, Rachel has already started trying to teach her children the value of money.
She spoke about it during an interview on the My Duvet Flip podcast, revealing she had been trying to teach her children about finances but was surprised by a comment her daughter made.
She said: “I’m trying to teach my kids the value of money because I said to my daughter why she needs to go to school, why she needs to learn things. And she’s like, ‘I don’t need to do that, I’m just going to get a credit card’.

“I said, ‘Do you know what a credit card is?’ She said, ‘No, I just thought it was free money’. She didn’t realise that that was connected to us going out to work, earning some money, and then choosing where to spend it.
“And that’s one of the difficulties in everything going cashless now. Kids, they just see you go beep and then you get the stuff. So, we’re going to have some work to teach them the value of a quid.”
As well as opening up about teaching her children about money, Rachel also answered a question about her top money tip.

Her response was frank: “I think you know, live within your means. It is hard for you when you’re younger and you’re so far away from being able to afford a house that you might just buy that extra takeaway.
“If you just stop and analyse what you’re spending. Even on, you know, your credit card bills now you get that annual, or even some of them monthly, that pie chart, actually look at it. The breakdown, the biggest place you’re spending it.”
Rachel’s comments come weeks after she admitted that neither she nor Pasha have any plans to expand their family further, with Rachel telling Woman magazine number three is not on the cards.
Discussing the topic, she told the publication: “No, I think we’re done.” She also touched on whether her children would follow in their father’s footsteps and go into dancing.
She said: “They’re both dancing. Maven, the eldest, has got her first ballet exam coming up, and the little one, Noa, has got her first show soon.
“They are just doing ballet, so it’s nothing serious. They love it and they always get Pasha to throw them around the kitchen.”
Rachel is returning to UK screens today (July 31), appearing on Countdown at 2.10pm on Channel 4 and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown at 9pm on the same channel.
