A new wildfire has sparked near Bear Creek Provincial Park North of West Kelowna on Saturday evening.

While the blaze is listed by the BC Wildfire Service at just 0.1 hectare, it is currently out of control.

This blaze comes one day after the discovery of the Bradley Creek wildfire near Vernon, which closed Westside Road in both directions earlier on Aug. 1.

This new blaze is also sitting just west of Westside Road, putting a fire at each end of one of West Kelowna’s only roads to Vernon west of Okanagan Lake.

Named the Blue Grouse Creek wildfire, the fire is being attended by BCWS firefighters and West Kelowna Fire and Rescue personnel.

The cause is unknown at this time.
