US Iran War Live Updates: ‘Iran has never faced a President like Trump,’ says US secretary of state Rubio

The US department of state has advised American citizens in the Middle East to consider departing or prepare to leave if security conditions worsen, amid rising regional tensions and President Donald Trump’s warning that Washington would hit Iran “very hard.” The warning comes after drone strikes in Kuwait and fresh shipping incidents near the Strait of Hormuz, while the conflict has also spread to Gaza and Lebanon, where new Israeli strikes were reported despite ceasefire efforts.

Earlier, while speaking at Camp David, Trump said that the US was prepared for a prolonged military campaign against Iran, declaring, “We just want to win,” and warning Tehran would face continued pressure until it could “not take it anymore.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt accused Iran of violating a previous understanding to halt hostilities, alleging Tehran had targeted commercial ships and killed US soldiers. She said Washington would continue its campaign until Iran returned to negotiations on terms acceptable to Trump.
