Police step up fight against acquisitive crime with intelligence-led approach

Officers have been focusing on burglary, theft from motor vehicles, and shed break-ins, increasing both overt and covert patrols in the worst-affected streets.

Police say every report is being fully investigated, with neighbourhood officers working closely with partners, CCTV operators, and local businesses to identify suspects and gather evidence.

Targeted operations have led to offenders being disrupted and a suspect charged and remanded in custody in connection with a series of thefts, which police say underlines their determination to protect residents’ property.

Alongside enforcement, the team is using Community Alert and local engagement to push practical crime prevention advice, from better home security to removing valuables from cars.

Victims are being supported with follow-up contact and regular updates on investigations, as officers aim to cut offending and increase reassurance across the three ward areas.
