Showers with heavy downpours expected late Sunday through Monday. Isolated flash flooding is possible.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – After a quiet start to August with sunshine on Saturday, we’re in for some showers and heavy downpours late Sunday through Monday.
A few showers will move into New York Sunday morning, then become heavier and more numerous during the afternoon and evening. Vermont and New Hampshire will only have widely scattered showers, with some spots remaining dry altogether. Isolated flash flooding can’t be ruled out in the St. Lawrence Valley Sunday evening and night.

Occasional showers and heavy downpours will continue on Monday before finally moving out Monday evening. Though models differ, there could be localized rainfall amounts over 2 inches. The good news is northern parts of our region are dry and could actually use some rain, so that will keep the flood threat down. Even so, isolated flash flooding is once again possible, so we’ll monitor the situation. As far as thunderstorms are concerned, no severe weather is expected, but embedded thunderstorms with heavy downpours are possible.
