Former Big Brother host Davina McCall has been a staple of our TV screens for decades − but now the star’s husband has spoken out on how long they have left in the limelight

Davina McCall is planning to leave showbiz behind for good in the near future, it has been revealed. Her husband explained the various health issues she has endured have pushed her to retire early.
Presenter Davina, 58, has been a staple of our TV screens for over two decades, fronting some of the biggest shows in Britain over the years. From the likes of Big Brother to The Masked Singer, Davina has been around somehow, making herself a household name.
But in recent years, Davina’s health struggles − including a terrifying brain tumour and battling breast cancer − have forced her out of the public eye. Now, her husband has said she is looking ahead to the end of her career and when she can retire in peace.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Davina’s hubby Michael Douglas was asked about what her plans are for the future and whether she has any plans to slow down in her career. Michael replied: “We’ve got five years of hard work left in us.
“Then I think it’s time for us to relax and enjoy all of that hard work. Davina will be about 62 and I’ll be around 58,” he added.
“There comes a point where you think, when do we actually sit back and enjoy everything we’ve worked so hard for? We’re both happy and healthy individuals, but that might not last forever.”

Michael and Davina are as loved up as ever, having only just renewed their vows in a second wedding held at her lavish Kent home. The ceremony was held with just family and friends two weeks ago, months after their first wedding at Marylebone Town Hall at the end of last year.
Their first wedding came after Davina discovered a small lump in her breast, which was ultimately found to be a form of cancer. The Long Lost Families host would end up undergoing rounds of chemotherapy to help get rid of the cancer, and was eventually given the all-clear from doctors in April this year.
But this was not the only health scare that Davina has had in recent years. At the end of 2024, the presenter stunned fans after revealing that a “very rare” tumour was found inside her brain.

The tumour, called a colloid cyst, was accidentally found by doctors, Davina said at the time. Thankfully, the tumour was benign and was eventually removed, but left Davina out of work for months as she gradually returned to the spotlight after her harrowing ordeal.
