Officials to provide update on Bradley Creek fire
We’re expecting to hear from officials at 10 a.m. PT for the latest on the Bradley Creek FSR wildfire, which is burning about 25 kilometres west of Vernon, B.C.
We’ll hear from the chief of the Okanagan Indian Band, which has been significantly affected by the fire, and representatives from the B.C. Wildfire Service and Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.
The Bradley Creek fire broke out on Friday and grew rapidly on Saturday, fueled by extreme winds and forcing thousands of people to flee their homes.
Officials haven’t yet said how many homes were damaged, but we’ve heard from residents who said they’ve lost everything.
The fire hasn’t grown significantly since Sunday and is listed as 260 hectares in size this morning.
