Main-draw play began on Sunday in Toronto, with a couple of former Grand Slam champions initially planned to lead off the sessions on Centre Court.
Rain ultimately disrupted the day, leading to a late start and the cancellation of the night session. Check out the completed results from Sunday:
CENTRE COURT – Not before 2:15 pm
- Kamila Rakhimova (UZB) vs [WC] Venus Williams (USA) 6-4, 6-1
- The 46-year-old Williams bounced back well after surrendering an early break and even had two chances to go up 5-3 in the first. But she could not convert her break points and Rakhimova rolled from there, winning nine of the last 11 games to eliminate the seven-time major champion.
- [WC] Katherine Sebov (CAN) d. [Q] Aoi Ito (JPN) 6-3, 6-4
- Both sets followed similar scripts, with Sebov breaking midway through the set, failing to consolidate, only to break again and this time hold. She just managed to hold on when serving for the opening set, but had no trouble in the second, becoming the first Canadian to record a win in Toronto at the 2026 National Bank Open. READ MORE
GRANDSTAND – starts at 3:00 pm
- Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (ESP) d. [WC] Ariana Arseneault (CAN) 6-2, 6-4
- Arseneault made a fight of it in the second set, breaking back after falling behind and nearly breaking again when Bouzas Maneiro served for the match. But the Canadian could not take advantage of her opportunities and went out in straights. READ MORE
- [Q] Moyuka Uchijima (JPN) d. Cristina Bucsa (ESP) 6-3, 6-4

Uchijima set a round-two clash with world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka by breaking twice in each set, including rallying from 3-0 down in the second. The Japanese won six of the last seven games to earn a date with the top seed.

COURT 1 – starts at 3:00 pm
- Viktorija Golubic (SUI) d. Kimberly Birrell (AUS) 7-6(7), 6-4
- After rallying from a break down twice in the first set, Golubic snuck out the tiebreak and then broke late in the second to advance.
- Camila Osorio (COL) d. [Q] Lucrezia Stefanini (ITA) 7-6(4), 6-3
- While it was not Osorio’s best service day, dropping serve six times, she was even better on return, securing eight breaks. She finished off the first set with consecutive minibreaks and then won five straight games from 1-3 down in the second.
COURT 4 – starts at 3:00 pm
- Sara Bejlek (CZE) d. Xiyu Wang (CHN) 6-3, 4-6, 7-5

The first three-setter of the 2026 main draw saw Bejlek sneak out the win despite being broken first in all three sets. She was relentless on return though, creating 18 break-point chances, of which she converted five.
