One man has been found dead after a mid-air collision between two aircraft on Monday in Chilliwack, B.C., according to an RCMP statement.
RCMP said one plane was located in a pond near Access Road, near Chilliwack Airport, and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located the body in the water.
Occupants of the second plane did not sustain any injuries and made it safely back to the airport in the second plane, police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) said it is deploying investigators after two Cessna 172 aircraft crashed in mid-air near Chilliwack Airport.
Five ambulances were dispatched to the area of Wolfe Road and Schweyey Road, according to B.C. Emergency Health Services.
It said the call came in at about 5:15 p.m. PT and no patients were taken to hospital.
The TSB, an independent agency with a mandate to advance transportation safety, said in a statement its team will arrive on site Tuesday afternoon to gather information and assess the crash.
