ZZ Top cancelled their headline performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles just hours before it was due to begin on August 5th.
The classic rock band were due to visit the legendary outdoor Los Angeles venue as part of their ongoing summer tour with Cheap Trick.
Taking to Instagram on the day of the concert, the band’s management stated that “the ZZ Top tour has unforeseen personnel matters that have forced the band to cancel its appearance at the Los Angeles landmark.”
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the band’s frontman Billy Gibbons explained that “insurmountable obstacles require canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance.”
Gibbons continued, “Friends, fans and followers of ZZ Top are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption.”
For their part, Cheap Trick ensured that they still played in Los Angeles on August 5th, putting on a last-minute show at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, which sold out in rapid time.
As it stands, it appears that no further tour dates have been impacted by the “insurmountable obstacles.”
The Hollywood Bowl confirmed that “all tickets including transportation and parking passes will be automatically refunded to the original payment method” within five to seven business days with no action required from the ticketholder.
According to their website, ZZ Top remain scheduled remain scheduled to perform over the next week in Fresno, California, on August 7th, and the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on August 9th, as well as in Redmond, Modesto and Central Point.
Their hectic tour schedule will keep ZZ Top on the road until November, when they’ll wrap their run with a number of shows in Mexico, concluding at the Banamex Auditorium in Monterrey on November 13th.
