Three arrested after 90mph police chase and multiple crashes

The incident began at around 1.10am today, Thursday, August 6, in Newton-le-Willows, when a Seat Leon failed to stop for officers on Common Road.

The vehicle sped through residential streets before heading towards the M6, reaching speeds of up to 90mph.

The car was seen running red lights, driving on the wrong side of the carriageway on the East Lancashire Road, and taking a roundabout on Stanley Bank Way in the wrong direction.

It later collided with a police vehicle, rendering it immobile.

Despite the collision, the Seat Leon continued along Stanley Bank Way before crashing into two parked cars – a Mercedes-Benz and an Audi A5 – on Penny Lane, in Haydock.

The three occupants of the vehicle were detained at the scene.

A 42-year-old man, from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and drug driving.

Meanwhile, A 29-year-old man, from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage.

Also, a 26-year-old man, from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and possession of a Class A drug, cocaine.

All three men remain in custody as police investigations continue.
