Kate Garraway has experienced a lot of joy but also plenty of tragedy in her romantic life, from her first marriage to television producer Ian Rumsey to the sad death of her late husband Derek Draper.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, who has been a popular staple on the morning talk show for many years, gave viewers a rare insight into her romantic history.
During a candid moment on Friday’s (August 7) episode of the ITV hit breakfast show she commented on the fact that she had been married twice.
Kate’s unexpected confession came as she welcomed entertainment reporter Rishi Davda, Bobby Seagull and Saira Khan onto the show alongside co-star Adil Ray.

Together, they discussed celebrity weddings and whether couples should celebrate their big day more than once.
When the conversation turned to the number of weddings people should have, Kate revealed: “I’ve had two weddings, but by two different people.”
The honest admission left Adil surprised, as he jokingly thanked her for “the clarity”.
Realising she had shared the detail live on air, Kate laughed: “I can’t believe I just said that out loud on television,” before adding that it was “the truth”.
During the GMB discussion, Kate also reflected on the different celebrations she and late husband Derek had when they married, explaining they had one in London but also in Chorley because “his dad was one of 12, and it just got bigger and bigger and bigger”.

The presenter’s relationship journey has included her first marriage to Ian Rumsey, which began in 1998 before ending in divorce in 2002, followed by her marriage to political adviser Derek in 2005.
Kate and Derek went on to welcome two children, Darcey and Billy, and their relationship was closely followed in recent years after Derek suffered serious health complications following his battle with Covid-19.
Kate documented the challenges her family faced throughout Derek’s long illness, before he sadly died in January 2024.
