Rock icon, 74, cancels tour due to ‘ongoing medical issues’

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley announced Monday he’s canceled all concerts on his schedule “due to some ongoing medical issues.”
Frehley, 74, did not provide more details about his condition, but he previously canceled a Sept. 26 appearance with Quiet Riot and Vixen at the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California, when he was hospitalized two weeks ago after suffering “a minor fall in his studio.”
Blabbermouth reports doctors advised him to refrain from travel until he fully recovers from his unspecified injuries.
According to Guitar Player’s online site, Frehley has a history of falling during his tenure with makeup-clad KISS, sometimes intentionally, and sometimes not. As part of the KISS show, he would perform in high-heeled boots that would frequently cause him to trip up and take spills onstage. Whenever it happened, his bandmates – Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley – would begin playing over him, as if the entire episode was planned, according to the website.
“I used to fall a lot in those boots,” Frehley told Music Radar. “A lot of times, Paul would cover for me by walking over to me like it was part of the show. He made it look like was choreography or something.”
According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Frehley, Simmons Stanley and Criss were recently announced as Kennedy Center Honorees by President Donald Trump. The KISS rockers are scheduled to receive their award in a December ceremony alongside George Strait, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Crawford and Gloria Gaynor.
