Rutland residents to vote on $3.9M infrastructure bond

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Rutland residents will vote Tuesday on a nearly $3.9 million bond to upgrade city infrastructure and boost development.
It would pay to bury power lines and replace aging water and sewer infrastructure underneath Center and Wales streets.
Above ground, developers hope to build a seven-story mixed-use building with 99 hotel rooms and 26 apartments.
The project is in the city’s tax increment financing district, meaning tax revenue from the hotel and other commercial development would help repay the bond.
City leaders urge residents to approve it.
