Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Kitchen Bound for the Bay Like a Nutritious Freight Train

Don’t thank Apple Blythe Alison Martin, don’t thank any errant skiers: This one goes right to Gwyneth Paltrow. The celebrity actress’s Goop — her nearly 20-year-old wellness brand that’s spawned from a newsletter into a behemoth of e-commerce, podcasts, docuseries, and more — will open three Goop Kitchen locations in the San Francisco Bay Area by the end of the year. In an email to Eater, the company confirmed a San Jose shop by the end of October, then a Sunnyvale location in early November, and a San Francisco outpost in December.
The opening menus will mirror Goop Kitchen’s entirely gluten-free Los Angeles locations, per the email, with exclusive-to-San Francisco specials in the pipeline. Salads, bowls, wraps, soups, desserts, and recently rotisserie chickens reign at Goop’s multi-pronged food arm, living under the Goop Kitchen and Goop Rotisserie mini brands. That means gluten-free pizza and pasta, though it’s still TBD if newcomer Goop Superfina will open alongside the other clean living-angled goods. Think maple pumpkin bars, turmeric-spiced chicken bone broth, and “the goop Father Italian Chopped Salad.”
The San Jose outpost — delivery only — will take over 949 Ruff Drive, right next to the San Jose airport and College Park. The Sunnyvale location at 1026 West Evelyn Avenue will offer delivery and to-go in the former Sushi Boat location near downtown. Last and not least, San Francisco’s delivery and to-go facility takes over the former Ben’s Fast Food at 60 Morris Street in SoMa.
Goop Kitchens took SoCal by storm in spring 2021. The initial effort was led by chef Kim Floresca, previously of Per Se, El Bulli, and wine country’s own the Restaurant at Meadowood. In addition to gluten-free everything, the outfit’s menus provide numerous vegan options and finish much of their food in the company’s “Certified Clean sauces, dressings, and marinades,” per the company website. The restaurants, which are delivery and pick-up only, will cover a wide radius in their respective cities.
