Seattle Mariners at Detroit Tigers

The Seattle Mariners are running it back for Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit.

A day after beating the Tigers 8-4 to take a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-five ALDS, the Mariners are running out the same lineup for Wednesday’s 12:08 p.m. game.

That means left fielder Randy Arozarena, who went 2 for 5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI on Tuesday, is in his usual leadoff spot.

“Big Dumper” Cal Raleigh will be back behind the dish in a day game after a night game and hitting second. He was 2 for 4 with homer and three RBIs the night before.

And the back half of the batting order that did damage in Game 3 is the same, including third baseman Eugenio Suárez (solo homer Tuesday) hitting sixth, right fielder Victor Robles (double and the first run scored Tuesday) hitting eighth, and shortstop J.P. Crawford (2 for 2 with a solo homer, two RBIs and a walk in Game 3) hitting ninth.

Bryce Miller gets the start on the mound for Seattle. He was one of the best starting pitchers in the American League in 2024 but struggled to a 5.68 ERA in 90 1/3 innings this season while twice landing on the injured list with elbow inflammation.

Miller didn’t face Detroit this season, but he has been excellent in two career starts at Comerica Park. The Tigers have not scored in Miller’s two career outings in Detroit, with the right-hander holding them to five hits and no walks over 14 innings.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch is also sticking with his same lineup after making changes for Game 3.

Right fielder Kerry Carpenter, who has been the big story for Detroit’s offense in the series, remains in the leadoff spot. He’s followed by second baseman Gleyber Torres hitting second. Torres went 2 for 4 on Tuesday and has a hit in every game of the series.

On the mound, Detroit will start right-hander Casey Mize, who was a first-time All-Star in 2025. He went 14-6 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.268 WHIP in the regular season.

Mize threw 5 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball with six strikeouts and three walks at Seattle in his first start of the season on April 4, a 4-1 Tigers win. But the Mariners tagged him for six earned runs on six hits and a walk over three innings in a 15-7 M’s win on July 12 in Detroit.

The Mariners have clearly liked playing at Comerica Park this year. Entering Wednesday’s game, they are 4-0 and have outscored the Tigers a combined 43-18 on their home field.
