Tropical Storm Priscilla to bring heavy rain to Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Major weather impacts are expected across Arizona as the remnants of at least one tropical system move into Arizona.

Look for mostly cloudy skies and a high of 94 degrees in the Valley. With even cooler days ahead, Wednesday’s high of 102 degrees was likely our last triple-digit day of 2025.

Priscilla is currently a tropical storm as of Thursday morning, spinning off the coast of the Baja Peninsula of Mexico. The storm is expected to further weaken, but the remnants will push into Arizona. Moisture is already streaming up into the state, with cloud cover and light shower activity on Thursday morning.

Chances for Valley rain are near 10 percent during the day on Thursday and near 30 percent by the evening and nighttime hours. Chances climb tomorrow, the first of three First Alert weather days.

Valley rain chances are near 40 percent on Friday and 80 percent on Friday night. The peak of the rain event is expected on Friday night and Saturday. Saturday brings an 80 percent chance of rain throughout the day. While most of the rain should be steady and light to moderate, there could be pockets of heavier rain, potentially leading to flash flooding.

A Flood Watch has been issued for most of Arizona. For the Valley, the watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening. In addition to the flooding potential, there is a risk for thunderstorms. Some storms could be strong, especially Saturday afternoon. Sunday rain chances are near 40 percent.

Look for dropping temperatures in the Valley, with a high of 95 on Friday and mid-80s Saturday and Sunday. 80s are also expected for highs all of next week.

A second tropical disturbance looks to push remnants into southeastern Arizona early next week. Rainfall could be heavy with this system, and there’s a chance the Valley could see more rain from this as well. There is a lot of uncertainty with this next storm. We’ll keep you updated.
