Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm’s actions since LIV Golf announcement have been totally bizarre

Nobody really knows what the future holds for LIV Golf duo Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.
DeChambeau joined LIV Golf from the PGA Tour way back in June 2022, while Rahm made the same move 18 months later.
The American and the Spaniard are genuine blockbuster stars and they both have worldwide appeal.
Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm are both huge supporters of LIV Golf, specifically the way that the league operates from top to bottom.
However, there is genuine concern among LIV fans about the futures of their two most coveted stars.
Scott O’Neil refused to be drawn on questions about DeChambeau and Rahm’s importance to LIV Golf during his press conference on Wednesday.

That seemed strange at the time, given the fact that O’Neil had just revealed that LIV Golf had secured new investment for the 2027 season and beyond.
It’s hard to imagine a scenario whereby LIV would be able to function at the very highest level of the game without their two star names.
And the actions of DeChambeau and Rahm over the past few days have certainly not helped matters.

DeChambeau and Rahm are the two biggest stars on LIV Golf; there is absolutely no doubt about that.
If one of those two players decides to leave LIV Golf, it would have serious ramifications for the league.
However, if they both decide to move on, it could be the final nail in the coffin for LIV.
DeChambeau’s current contract with LIV Golf is set to expire at the end of this season, so quite where he will be playing his golf next year is very much up in the air right now.
Meanwhile, Rahm has at least two more years left to run on his deal, but as Brooks Koepka proved, it is possible for players to cut their contracts short if that’s what they want to do.
Nobody knows the identity of the new investors, which is bizarre in itself, but whoever they are, they surely will not be happy that neither DeChambeau nor Rahm have come out and spoken about what LIV 2.0 will look like.
DeChambeau has avoided the media for the most part since the controversy that he caused during The Open.
He did speak a couple of times during LIV Golf UK, but he refused to give much away regarding his future with LIV Golf.
And Rahm has barely spoken to reporters since The Open either. He certainly hasn’t provided anything of substance when asked about his LIV Golf future.

That is a real disappointment given the fact that there has been so much uncertainty swirling around the futures of the American and the Spaniard.
How neither of them has specifically addressed the news regarding fresh investment into the LIV Golf league is genuinely bizarre.
How LIV Golf 2.0 may look
If we read between the lines, something definitely isn’t right with DeChambeau and Rahm right now.
Surely the American and the Spaniard would have spoken to the media if the new LIV Golf investment is genuinely something that everybody should be excited about, like Scott O’Neil claims it should be.
Could it be that LIV 2.0 is not actually something to be ecstatic about?
Perhaps O’Neil has secured new investment for the league, but the purses will be considerably lower from the start of the 2027 season onwards.
Maybe the prize money will be more aligned to DP World Tour purses.
LIV Golf will most likely carry on past the end of this current season, but the landscape will clearly change significantly.
Do Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm really want to be a part of the new version of LIV Golf?
Their silence over the past few days speaks volumes in my opinion.
Perhaps moving forward, LIV Golf will be a league where experienced journeymen and supremely talented youngsters ply their trade, rather than genuine superstars like DeChambeau and Rahm.
