Barkley returns to New York, Bills look to rebound in Week 6 NFL action on TSN

The NFL season is in full swing as the action continues into mid-October as contenders from around the league being emerging to separate themselves from the pack.

TSN will carry eight total games this week, including a division battle on Thursday Night Football, the NFL International Series tilt in London and a Monday Night Football doubleheader.

Here is a look at all of the NFL action on tap for this week on the TSN Network.

Eagles vs. Giants –Thursday Night Football

Week 6 gets started with an NFC East matchup as Saquon Barkley leads the Philadelphia Eagles against his former team, the New York Giants.

Watch the Eagles play the Giants LIVE Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 p.m. PT on TSN1, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Saquon Barkley

The Eagles were handed their first loss of the year last time out against the Denver Broncos, snapping a 10-game winning streak that dated back to Week 16 of the 2024 season.

Philadelphia was in the driver’s seat for most of the contest and held a 17-3 lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter, before Denver engineered three consecutive scoring drives in the final 13 minutes to stun the defending Super Bowl champions.

Barkley recorded just six carries for 30 yards in the Week 5 loss and was later revealed to be dealing with general body soreness, but the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year has said that he’s ‘excited’ to play on Thursday Night Football this week.

When Barkley made the trip back to East Rutherford, NJ for the first time as an opposing player last year, he ran for 176 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in a blowout 28-3 win, just a few months after leaving New York as a free agent to join their division rivals.

While coming into this week with a questionable tag, Barkley was listed as a limited participant in practice on Tuesday, and should still remain a focal point of Nick Sirriani’s offence in Week 6.

With Barkley not at full health last week, Jalen Hurts was forced to carry most of the load for Philadelphia, and recording season-high marks in both completions (23) and passing yards (280) in the loss.

Hurts finally got on the same page with DeVonta Smith, who broke out in a big way with eight catches for 114 yards, but once again struggled to connect with A.J. Brown, who now has just 50 yards across his past two contests.

Hurts and Barkley confirmed reports that they met with Brown earlier in the week after the disgruntled star once again expressed frustration with his lack of production early on in the year.

“I felt like that conversation was meant to stay between us, but the focus was all about the team, and I think it was a good thing,” Barkley said, while Hurts added that “It’s just us talking about the collective, talking about taking ownership for what we can and talking about how we move forward as a team so we continue to find ways to win games.”

The 2024 Super Bowl MVP will look to get both of his top receiving options going against a Giants defence that ranks in the bottom third of the league with an average of 237.2 passing yards surrendered per game in 2025.

The Giants, led by rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, were unable to carry the momentum from their first win of the year into last week, losing on the road to the lowly New Orleans Saints.

Dart, the 25th overall pick in this year’s draft, took over for Russell Wilson after the Giants got off to an 0-3 start.

The Ole Miss product helped the team take their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in his first career start, but struggled with two interceptions and a fumble in the loss last week.

Rookie running back Cam Skattebo also fumbled in the loss, while the defensive line that propelled the team to victory over Los Angeles was unable to record a sack in Week 5.

The offence is set to look a little different with Malik Nabers (ACL) out for the year and Darius Slayton (hamstring) set to miss the contest, but running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. logged a limited practice on Wednesday and could make his return to the lineup after a one-week absence.

Broncos vs. Jets – NFL International Series on TSN+

The NFL International Series continues in Week 6 as the Denver Broncos and New York Jets square off from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.

Bo Nix Denver Broncos Bo Nix

This is the fourth game of the season that has been played overseas so far, with three more to follow.

Bo Nix and the Broncos rallied late for the victory in Week 5 and are now tied for the top spot in a highly-competitive AFC West.

Nix threw for 242 yards and a touchdown in the win, and J.K. Dobbins added 79 yards and a score on the ground in the comeback, continuing their strong starts to the season.

Nix has posted 1,103 passing yards with eight touchdowns to begin the season, while Dobbins, who singed with the team in free agency, is now the fifth-leading rusher in the NFL, numbers they will look to improve on against a Jets team that is still looking for their first win of the year.

The Jets were blown out by the Dallas Cowboys 37-22 last week as their defensive woes once again continue to plague Aaron Glenn’s team.

New York has given up 31.4 points per game through Week 5, the fourth-worst mark in team history to begin the year, and have surrendered at least 27 points in each game so far this season.

“We’re 0-5 and we own that,” Glenn said as the team began their preparations for the game in London. “But I do know this: That’s not going to stop us from doing everything we can to win.”

They are also the first team in NFL history to have zero takeaways in the first fives games of the season.

“Breaks my heart,” safety Tony Adams said after Week 4’s loss. “We work so hard at it…that’s all we preach. We let people down, and it’s not good enough.”

Despite the struggles on the defensive side of the ball, Justin Fields and Breece Hall have been driving forces on offence, and remain among the bright spots so far for the winless Jets.

In his first full three games under centre with the Jets, Fields has totalled 727 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions, while adding 155 rushing yards and three more scores.

Hall, a former second-round pick in 2022, has rebounded after a tough year last season and is seventh in the league with 351 rushing yards on just 66 carries.

They’re set to face a tough Broncos defence that leads the league in sacks with 21 through the first five weeks, and the third-lowest points surrendered in the league.

Leading the charge is Nik Bonitto, who is the league-leader in both sacks (7.0) and quarterback pressures (31). He won his first career AFC Defensive Player of the Week award for his efforts in the win over Philadelphia, recording 2.5 sacks with four total tackles.

Seahawks vs. Jaguars –

Fresh off the heels of a statement win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5, Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars look to keep rolling against Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks.

Watch the Jaguars host the Seahawks LIVE Sunday at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT on TSN1/3/4, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

The Jaguars have been one of the most surprising teams in football to begin the year, and are now tied with six other teams for the best record in the league at 4-1.

In their first season under head coach Liam Coen, the Jaguars have found immediate success on both sides of the ball.

The backfield of Travis Etienne Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten have combined for 685 rushing yards on the year, the fifth-best mark in the league, while adding six touchdowns on the ground.

But the area where the team have shined the most this year is on defence, allowing an average of 20.0 points per game, eighth-best in the league, while also leading the NFL with 14 total takeaways.

The Jaguars present an interesting challenge for the Seahawks, who have committed eight turnovers through five games played, including an NFC-high five fumbles.

Sam Darnold has gotten off to a great start to his three-year, $100.5 million deal, throwing for 1,246 yards and nine touchdowns to three interceptions. His total quarterback rating of 78.9 is also the second-best mark in the NFL.

He has shown immediate rapport with Seattle’s No. 1 receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is top five among all pass-catchers in receptions (34), receiving yards (534), receptions of 20+ yards (10), and receiving first downs (24).

After falling 38-35 t the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a nail-biter, the Seahawks will look to rebound to keep pace in a crowded NFC West.

Rams vs. Ravens –

Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams look to get back on track against the banged-up Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.

Matthew Stafford Matthew Stafford Los Angeles Rams

The Rams dropped to 3-2 last week after losing in overtime to their NFC rival San Francisco 49ers.

With the Rams deep into Niners’ territory down three points in the late stages of overtime, head coach Sean McVay made the decision to keep his offence on the field for a game-deciding 4th&1, playing for the win instead of a potential tie.

Kyren Williams was stopped before the first-down marker, and the Rams lost a razor-thin contest for the second time in three weeks.

“I can’t remember feeling much more disgusted waking up after a tough loss than I have after the two that we’ve had,” McVay said after the loss. “You want to talk about two gut punches in terms of how we’ve lost the two games that we have.

“We’re a couple of execution plays away from being a 5-0 team, but the reality is we’re 3-2.”

Matthew Stafford threw for a whopping 389 yards and three touchdowns and has put talk of a back injury at training camp in the rearview mirror.

His 1,503 passing yards lead all quarterbacks, while his 11 touchdowns are second behind Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions.

Stafford and top receiver Puka Nacua have been a force to begin the 2025 season, and now form one of the most dangerous duos in the league.

Nacua is first among all pass-catchers with 52 receptions and 588 yards, firmly cementing himself as the Stafford’s most reliable target.

The Ravens have battled injuries all season long, and are now in danger of falling to 1-5 through six weeks.

Lamar Jackson’s status remains undetermined, but the two-time MVP was not at practice Wednesday and is at risk of missing a second consecutive game for the reeling Ravens.

Jackson was one of seven players to sit out last week’s 44-10 blowout to the Houston Texans, with other key players Marlon Humphrey, Roquan Smith, Kyle Hamilton, and Ronnie Stanley all sidelined.

Cooper Rush got the start under centre with Jackson missing the contest, and threw for 179 yards and three interceptions.

The eight-year veteran is likely to get the nod again for John Harbaugh’s team, and will look for better results this time around.

The Ravens’ 1-4 record is tied for the worst start to a season in franchise history, and desperately need a win this week to stay within the playoff picture.

Out of the 283 teams in NFL history to lose five of their first six games, just four have qualified for the postseason.

Bengals vs. Packers –

After a pair of pitiful offensive showings without Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals have switched things up and acquired veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to try and jumpstart their offence, starting with a matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Flacco, who was benched in favour of Dillon Gabriel with the Cleveland Browns last week, was named the starter hours after being traded to the Cincinnati.

The Bengals turned to Jake Browning after Burrow needed surgery to repair turf toe, but the offence sputtered with just 13 points across their next two games. Browning was better last time out against the Detroit Lions, but still threw three interceptions in a third consecutive blowout loss, prompting the team to make a change.

“Welcome to pro football,” Browning said after Flacco was named the starter. “You’re going to get replaced. That’s what I’m going through.

“The general theme for myself is anybody that is going through some adversity, whether it’s football or personal stuff, if you go through it and deal with it the right way, there’s no way you don’t come out the other end a better version of who you are,” he said. “For me, it’s obviously about responding the right way. Obviously, I’m pissed. And if I wasn’t pissed, then I shouldn’t be in this locker room.”

Flacco has already beaten the Packers earlier this season, completing 21 of his 36 pass attempts for 142 yards as Cleveland’s starter in Week 3.

“At least the one advantage we do have with bringing Joe Flacco in here specifically is he’s watched tape for a week,” head coach Zac Taylor said. “He’s played this game. He’ll still need to do the same thing, because they played two games since then, but at the same time, it’s at least there in the back of his mind.”

The Packers will be well-rested following their Week 5 bye, and will be hungry for a win after their 40-40 tie in overtime against the Dallas Cowboys in their last game.

Quarterback Jordan Love starred with 337 yards and a touchdown, while Josh Jacobs added 86 yards on the ground with another two scores.

Tight end Tucker Kraft has emerged as Love’s top receiving option in the early-goings of the season, and leads the team in targets (20), yards (225), and yards after catch (157).

Green Bay’s defensive line has wreaked havoc on opposing teams this year, with Rashan Gary, Micah Parsons, and Devonte Wyatt combining for nine total sacks in just four games played this year.

They will look to stay hot this week against a porous Bengals offensive line that has allowed 15 sacks to start the year.

Lions vs. Chiefs – Sunday Night Football

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions roll into Arrowhead for a Sunday Night Football matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Watch the Lions and Chiefs battle LIVE Sunday at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 p.m. PT on TSN1/3/4, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Jared Goff and David Montgomery Jared Goff and David Montgomery Lions

The Lions come into Week 6 at 4-1, fresh off of a 37-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals to keep pace with three other teams for the top spot int he NFC.

After the loss of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn this offseason, the Lions have picked up right where they left off last season.

Detroit leads the NFL with 34.8 points per game in 2025, spreading the ball all over the offence to begin the year.

The ‘Sonic and Knuckles’ backfield duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery remains the focal point of the offence with the pair totalling 635 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in five games, but the Lions have been just as effective through the air, as well.

Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown have once again found their stride, with the latter leads all pass-catchers in the NFL with six touchdowns, while also being inside the top five in receptions (34) and yards (407).

On the defensive side of the ball, the Lions are second in the league in sacks with 16.0, while also recording six interceptions, including three from Kerby Joseph alone, through five weeks of action.

Aidan Hutchinson and Jack Campbell has also played pivotal roles on defence, forcing five fumbles between the two.

The Chiefs had rebounded from an 0-2 start and got back to the .500 mark in Week 4, but ended up not he wrong end of a 31-28 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last time out.

Mahomes did his best in the loss, throwing for 318 yards with a touchdown while adding a team-high 60 rush yards and a score on the ground, but the effort was ultimately not enough as Kansas City dropped to 2-3 on the year.

Kansas City has struggled to find a true No. 1 option on offence this season with Rashee Rice not available due to suspension, and they will have to wait one more game until the dynamic receiver is eligible to make his season debut in Week 7.

Travis Kelce has caught just 22 passes for 243 yards, while JuJu Smith-Schuster (16/168/1) and Marquise Brown (26/257/1) have failed to distinguish themselves as reliable options for Mahomes on a consistent basis.

The two-headed backfield of Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt have combined for just 327 yards on the ground, with Mahomes still holding the mantle as the leading rusher in the offence.

The Chiefs have fallen behind the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos in the division, putting their streak of nine AFC West titles in jeopardy.

With Rice returning next week, second-year receiver Xavier Worthy will once again be the top option against a tough Lions secondary that ranks inside the top-12 in passing yards allowed per game at 206.6.

Bills vs. Falcons – Monday Night Football

The Buffalo Bills look to bounce back from their first loss of the season as they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.

Watch the Bills play the Falcons LIVE Monday at 7:15 p.m. ET / 4:15 p.m. PT on TSN1/4, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Josh Allen

The Bills turned the ball over three times in the loss to their AFC East rival New England Patriots last time out, with Josh Allen later describing his team’s performance as “sloppy”.

“[We’re] not gonna win a football game, turning the ball over three times…that’s just bad football and we just did not play good tonight.”

Allen was responsible for two of those turnovers, a fumble on the team’s opening drive and then an interception in the third quarter. Prior to Week 5, the Bulls had turned the ball over just two times in four games.

Perhaps more concerning than the turnovers was the lack of production from lead back James Cook, who mustered just 49 rushing yards in the loss. Cook, who signed a lucrative four-year, $48 million deal to end a lengthy contract standoff, did not record a catch and failed to find the end zone for the first time in 2025.

Cook will have an opportunity to rebound agains the Falcons, who have allowed an average of 109.0 yards per game to opposing running backs.

Atlanta was on bye in Week 5, but are back in action on primetime as they reach for more consistency this year.

After a close loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1, the Falcons easily defeated the Minnesota Vikings in their next game. Week 3 sae them get shut out against the lowly Carolina Panthers, losing by a score of 30-0, before taking care of business against the Jayden Daniels-less Washington Commanders in Week 4.

Superstar running back Bijan Robinson remains the team’s most dangerous offensive weapon next to second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr., but Raheem Morris will also look to get Drake London involved early after a slow start to the year.

London, a USC product, has just 24 catches for 261 yards and a touchdown on the year, failing to crack the 60-yards receiving mark in three of four games played.

The former 2022 first-round pick broke out in a big way last time out with 10 catches for 110 yards and a score, but keeping him involved against the second-best pass defence in the league could pose a challenge.

Bears vs. Commanders – Monday Night Football

The Week 6 slate closes with an NFC showdown between the top two picks in the 2024 draft as Caleb Williams leads the Chicago Bears against Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.

Watch the Bears take on the Commanders LIVE Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 p.m. PT on TSN3/5, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Washington dispatched the Los Angeles Chargers last time out, moving to 3-2 on the year.

Jayden Daniels returned to the lineup following a two-week absence, but rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt stole the headlines after rushing for 111 yards with two touchdowns.

The seventh-round pick out of Arizona finally broke out after impressing in the preseason, and figures to get the bulk of the carries against a poor Bears run defence that has allowed the second-most rushing yards this season.

Daniels still played well in the win, throwing for 231 yards and a touchdown while playing turnover-free football.

The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year is just one of three starting quarterbacks in the NFL to have still not thrown an interception on the year, but will be tested against a Chicago secondary that is second in the league with seven picks.

Caleb Williams, who was selected over Daniels in last year’s draft, has improved in almost every statistical category under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, and will look to come off of the bye week with a win.

Williams and fellow 2024 first-round pick Rome Odunze have gotten on the same page after disappointing rookie seasons, and have connected on five touchdowns on the year already.

DJ Moore has also pitched in with 173 yards and a touchdown, while D’Andre Swift has seen the lion’s share of work in the backfield, posting 187 yards on the ground with two scores.

The last time these teams faced off, Daniels threw a miraculous hail-mary that bounced off the hands of Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson and into the waiting arms of Noah Brown for the win and one of the top moments of the 2024 season.
