Weekend forecast — dry start, stormy finish
Here is where our weather begins to get tricky. Let’s start with the good news. Saturday looks to be completely dry everywhere. Greater Boston will see a mostly sunny start with some clouds filtering into the region throughout the afternoon. Northern New England will look to stay the sunniest the longest on Saturday — a good day to take in some fall foliage or visit the pumpkin patch.

With a slight shift to a southerly flow, albeit weak, it will be enough to push our highs into the mid- to upper 60s across New England.

All eyes turned to Sunday when a coastal storm will turn into a classic nor’easter, slipping off the Atlantic coast and scattered periods of light to steady rain Sunday afternoon. The weather will deteriorate pretty quickly Sunday evening and into the night with strong, gusty winds ramping up and light and steady rain turning to pockets of heavy rain across Boston and the rest of Southern New England.
I’ll be monitoring how this nor’easter unfolds, and you can access the dedicated nor’easter tracker to get the very latest. You can see the latest rain totals, forecast wind gusts, flooding chances, and other potential impacts.

You should be able to enjoy the first half of Sunday if you have plans. Afternoon highs will end up reaching the low 60s before the clouds build and cap off the heating for the day.

A separate high-pressure system will loom over eastern Canada, just north of the region, blocking the advancement of the nor’easter, setting up a soggy and stormy holiday on Monday. Wind conditions will continue to persist with scattered showers, spreading all throughout New England, with some dry stretches mixed in between, with overcast skies.
