Strictly Come Dancing may just have a new curse for fans to worry about. One of the BBC show’s new dancers has never made it past week two when dancing with their celebrity partners on the Australian version of the hit programme.

Julian Caillon has been eliminated during the second week of Dancing with the Stars every time he has competed – three times in total.

He has been paired with EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal for his first season on the UK show, known for her role as Suki Kaur Panesar (now Unwin) on the BBC soap since 2019.

Julian made his first appearance on Dancing with the Stars in 2020 when he was partnered with Gogglebox Australia star Angie Kent.

They failed to make an impression on the dancefloor and were the second couple to be eliminated.

Julian returned for the eighteenth season in 2021 and was paired with model and returning contestant Erin McNaught, who had previously competed in the twelfth season.

Again, they were the second couple to be eliminated.

And in 2022, Julian was paired with Kent again for the nineteenth “All Stars” season, where they were again the second couple sent home.

Fans are hoping the professional’s previous track record doesn’t follow him to the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, with Balvinder shocking the judges with an impressive Charleston last week, which saw her almost double her score from 17 points in week one to 30 points in week two.

For Movie Week, Balvinder and Julian will be dancing the Foxtrot to The Way You Look Tonight from Swing Time.

The duo finished in eighth place on the leaderboard after weeks one and two.

At the moment, bookies predict Balvinder will comfortably make it through to the fourth week, breaking the two week curse for Julian.

But showbiz correspondent Ross King and partner Jowita Przystał are predicted to be in trouble, after landing at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova, who are next from bottom and had to fight for their place in the competition last week as they danced off against Tom Skinner and Amy Dowden, could also be at risk of going home.

A spokesperson from Betway said: “Despite being saved from the dance-off last weekend, Ross King is the favourite to leave the competition on Sunday.

“Things are not looking good for Chris Robshaw either, as in a surprising turn of events, he landed in the bottom two last Saturday and had to perform his routine again. Luckily for him, the judges voted unanimously, and Thomas Skinner was sent home instead.”
