Raptors’ Brandon Ingram out for pre-season game against Wizards

The Toronto Raptors forward won’t play in Sunday’s pre-season game against the Washington Wizards, the team announced ahead of tip-off.

It’s the second straight game Ingram is missing after all five starters rested on Friday against the Boston Celtics.

Live coverage of Raptors-Wizards is available on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.

Ingram, 28, was acquired by the Raptors at last season’s trade deadline but did not play for the team as he recovered from a severe ankle sprain that limited him to just 18 games with the New Orleans Pelicans.

When he was healthy, Ingram averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest — numbers that are similar to his career stats of 19.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

Toronto acquired him to provide instant offence, and he did just that in two exhibition games to date, scoring 40 points in 45 minutes.

The Raptors have three pre-season games remaining including Sunday before opening their regular season on the road against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 22.
