Over 2,800 customers in Chilliwack impacted by power outages Monday morning

CHILLIWACK — Over 2,800 BC Hydro customers in Chilliwack have lost electricity Monday morning due to at least two power outages.
According to BC Hydro’s online dashboard, 2,509 customers lost power from one outage at 7:47 a.m. Monday morning due to an unspecified cause in the Chilliwack River Valley and surrounding areas. The outage cause is under investigation. Crews have been assigned.
It’s affecting a horizontal swath of the Chilliwack River Valley north and south of Chilliwack Lake Road, the Baker Trails mobile home parks along Chilliwack Lake Road, Soowahlie First Nation, as well as Cultus Lake.
There is also a power outage blanketing parts of Chilliwack Mountain and Squiaala First Nation in which a downed tree fell across hydro wires. That outage began at 4:34 a.m. Monday morning, affecting 317 customers. Customers impacted by that outage could have their power back on by 11 a.m., BC Hydro’s dashboard indicates.
