A knee injury in the second quarter knocked Antonio Gibson out of the Patriots’ upset win against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

It’s unclear how serious it is.

“Nothing to add,” coach Mike Vrabel said on WEEI on Monday when asked if there was an update on the running back. “He’ll go through some tests (Monday) morning and we’ll have to see what comes from those.”

Gibson was returning a kickoff when he took a big hit from Bills cornerback Cam Lewis. He limped off the field and was visibly emotional as he went to the locker room.

Gibson’s absence forced Mike Vrabel to utilize New England’s running back depth on a night when Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled once again, and TreVeyon Henderson struggled in pass protection in his first month.

Should Gibson miss extended time, it’s likely Henderson will see more time on the field. Stevenson, despite his fumbling woes continuing, scored two touchdowns in New England’s Week 5 win.
