Dodgers Veteran Sends Praise to Brewers Star Ahead of NLCS

Los Angeles Dodgers veteran Miguel Rojas praised Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich over his leadership ahead of the NLCS.

The Dodgers and Brewers, starting on Monday, will lock horns for up to seven games, with one team emerging as the National League representative in the World Series.

Yelich has been one of the faces of the franchise for years now, dating back to his 2018 MVP season. While he has not reached similar heights since, the lefty batter has remained an everyday player for the Brewers.

This season, he slashed .264/343/.452 with 29 home runs and 103 RBIs. It was his best year since 2018.

Before joining the Brewers, Yelich spent five years with the Miami Marlins, during which Rojas was on the roster, leading to both players forming a relationship.

In the lead-up to the NLCS, Rojas reflected on how he views Yelich years removed from their time in Miami.

“Yeah, he’s one of my favorites. He’s a captain himself over there. I know not many people talk about him being a captain or anything like that. He’s like an old veteran player that kind of helps everybody to kind of run the clubhouse and the team,” Rojas said.

“And I know because I know Jackson Chourio really close. We’re from Venezuela. We’re with the same agency. I know how highly he speaks about Yelich. And I can say the same thing.

“When we played together in Miami, he’s not a guy who is going to talk a lot, but he’s going to show you through preparation and work ethic.

“And I’m happy for him because he’s getting the opportunity to be on this stage. He always showed me he was a guy that you can follow because he’s a great leader.”

Rojas and Yelich will be on opposite sides this week with a trip to the World Series on the line.
