How to Get Mega Shards
As mentioned, collecting Mega Shards is as easy as breaking the pink crystals you see around Lumiose.
Do this by calling out your Pokemon, holding ZL to target the crystal, and commanding your Pokemon to perform a damaging move on the crystal to break it and earn shards.
Tip: You may want to use a ranged attack to more easily reach all of your targets. This will also earn XP for the Pokemon that broke the crystal, and once you unlock Mega Evolution, will charge Mega Power so you can Mega Evolve and use Plus Moves.
What to Do With Mega Shards
Though you can start collecting these items very early on in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it isn’t really explained what to do with them.
Unlike Colorful Screws, you won’t just wander into a spot in the city where you can exchange them. To use Mega Shards, you must progress to Main Mission 10 – The Secrets of Mega Evolution. Then, you’ll be able to exchange them for various Mega Stones and exp. Candies at Quasartico Inc. As you continue to progress the story, more Mega Stones will become available.
