Phil De Fries, KSW 84 weigh-in Credit: KSW
With Francis Ngannou barely fighting (least of all in MMA, with just one fight and one victory since exiting the UFC), it’s hard to imagine a better heavyweight outside the UFC than Phil De Fries right now.
A former UFC talent himself, England’s De Fries went 2-3 inside the octagon, and had a few troubles after hitting the regional scene. Having conquered personal demons and turned his career around, however, he has not lost since 2017, compiling a 15-fight win streak that includes victories over UFC veterans Todd Duffee, Darko Stosic, and Augusto Sakai among others.
He’s now made 11 successful title defenses of his KSW heavyweight strap, an impressive feat regardless of promotion. At KSW 111, he’ll look to make it an even dozen when he takes on Stefan Vojcak, who has won three fights (including one of Stosic) to make it to a title shot.
The light heavyweight title will also be on the line when the Polish promotion heads into the Czech Republic on Saturday.
