Arizona State football is back in The Associated Press’ Top 25 Poll after a 26-22 upset win over previously-undefeated Texas Tech in front of a home crowd.
ASU (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) has climbed in and out of the rankings all season, most recently having fallen out completely at the No. 21 position after a big loss to Utah last week.
The Sun Devils now sit at No. 24, still a far-cry from their preseason No. 11 status.
ASU came in at No. 25 in the latest Coaches Poll.
After downing the Red Raiders where coach Kenny Dillingham picked up arguably his biggest victory in Tempe, ASU will face Houston (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) on Saturday at Mountain America Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
Houston is coming off a 31-28 win over Arizona, which it won on a 41-yard kick with time expiring.
How the Big 12 is faring in the latest poll
ASU is one of four Big 12 teams in the poll released on Sunday.
BYU (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) remained unbeaten with a three-point win over Utah in the Holy War on Saturday night to be bumped up four places to No. 11 whereas Texas Tech’s loss to ASU caused it to drop seven places to No. 14.
Cincinnati (6-1, 4-0 Big 12) shares the distinction of being undefeated in conference play after a 49-17 road win over Oklahoma State.
Utah, Houston and TCU received 40, 34 and two votes, respectively.
Other notable moves in the poll included Miami falling seven places following a loss to Louisville and LSU falling a poll-most 10 places after now-10th-ranked Vanderbilt defeated the Tigers 31-24.
