Ally McCoist says Arsenal would definitely win the league if they’d signed one Liverpool player

Arsenal will have no complaints over their work in the summer transfer window, but Ally McCoist thinks one signing could’ve made things even better.
Sporting director Andrea Berta welcomed eight new players to Arsenal in the summer, including star names such as Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze.
Though Gyokeres is currently struggling, the striker’s arrival was paramount, as the Gunners were seriously lacking a goalscoring presence the season prior.
There were other names on Arsenal’s radar, one being Alexander Isak, whom Mikel Arteta is an admirer of.
It was initially thought that Isak wouldn’t be available for transfer, but on deadline day, the Swede forced a move ot Liverpool, leaving Arsenal wondering what could’ve been.

Ally McCoist says Arsenal would definitely win the Premier League if they had Alexander Isak
Just like Gyokeres, Isak has struggled early in the Premier League season and is yet to score for Liverpool in the league.
That being said, Ally McCoist has reason to believe that Isak could’ve been the missing piece at Arsenal in their bid to win the Premier League title.
The pundit shared his views when speaking to TNT Sports, claiming that despite having a good chance of winning the title with Gyokeres, Arsenal’s chances would’ve rocketed with Isak.
“Arsenal have got their best ever chance of winning the league with Gyokeres, but if they’d signed Isak, it would be a done deal,” McCoist said.
“Liverpool have strengthened, we think, with signing Isak, and they might not win the league. It’s mental to think that way, but such is the excitement we’re in for this season.”
Contrary to McCoist’s beliefs, Arsenal are thought to have an advantage over Liverpool in the Premier League title race for reasons away from the player leading the line.
It’s not, however, only McCoist who believes that Isak could’ve won Arsenal the league, but so far, there’s nothing to suggest that the Swede could’ve made the Gunners better than they are.
Micah Richards isn’t sold on Isak at Liverpool just yet
The summer transfer window was a difficult time for Isak, who refused to represent Newcastle United any further, forcing a move to Liverpool.
The way that the striker handled his future left him away from pre-season action, training and the start of the campaign, and it’s really taken its toll.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast after Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United, Micah Richards described Isak as a ‘shadow’ of the player he was only a few months ago.
“Isak, he’s a shadow of the player. This whole debacle of what happened in the summer, it’s showing,” Richards said.
“He’s not fit, Arne Slot said in the press conference before that now we are going to see the real Isak because he looks like he’s going to be fit, but the chance that he had in the game, if he’s at Newcastle, he tucks that away.”
So, while Isak’s quality is impossible to question, his current form is, as is the way he handled his summer.
There’s nothing to show that Arsenal are missing something right now that Isak could’ve offered, with all faith in what Gyokeres can offer when his confidence improves.
