Malick Thiaw’s friends and family ‘shocked’ after what Newcastle United fans have done

Malick Thiaw admits even some of his family and friends were surprised about his new chant among Newcastle United fans.
Thiaw arrived at Newcastle United from AC Milan this summer and has already made a promising start to life at the club.
The German international is building a very impressive partnership with Sven Botman at the heart of Eddie Howe’s defence and, on current form, looks like a nailed-on starter.
Such has been the impressive start to his career at St James’ Park, Thiaw already has a new chant at Newcastle.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest, the 24-year-old opened up on it all.

Malick Thiaw reacts to his new chant from Newcastle United fans
Thiaw was speaking to Premier League reporter Andy Sixsmith.
He revealed he was delighted with the song created for him, while also talking about the reaction from his friends and family.
Having never had a chant at any of his previous clubs, he admitted those close to him were shocked.
Thiaw also revealed that Dan Burn has been singing Thiaw’s song in the physio room.
“It’s great! I don’t know who created it but they did a great job! My friends and family were shocked when they heard it because I’d never had a chant at a club before,” he said.
“They appreciate the love the fans have for me.
“Today in the physio room, some of our players were singing it to me – one of them was Dan Burn!”
Had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the fantastic Malick Thiaw this week – who told me what he thinks of his chant – and which #NUFC player has been singing it to him…

Newcastle United have been handed a major boost over Malick Thiaw
Luckily for Howe, his new defender will be remaining on Tyneside over the international break.
Indeed, Germany haven’t named Thiaw in their squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland later this month.
That feels somewhat unfortunate for the player on an individual basis, given his form. The defender has three caps for his country and will no doubt hope to claim more.
Still, the fact he’s not going away on international duty can only be a boost for Howe. The fixtures are coming thick and fast in the club game alone right now, so anything that helps battle against fatigue can only be a positive for Newcastle.
