Small earthquake of 2.3 magnitude shakes Talladega County, no damage reported

TALLADEGA, Ala. (WBMA) — A small earthquake rattled parts of Talladega County early Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake, which had a magnitude of 2.3, struck around 4:48 a.m. local time about 0.6 miles southeast of Talladega. It originated at a depth of roughly 6 miles underground.
So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
Earthquakes of this size are typically too weak to cause significant damage, but some residents in the area may have felt a light tremor or vibration.
The USGS continues to monitor the area for any aftershocks.
