Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer: Brie Larson, Benny Safdie

The Super Mario Bros. are headed to a galaxy far, far away!

Illumination and Nintendo have released the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which serves as the follow-up to 2023’s wildly popular Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The sequel will pick up following the events of the first film, which saw Bowser transform into a miniature version of himself. In the new story, Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach will venture into the galaxy, traveling to different lands from the beloved video game.

The original Super Mario Galaxy Movie was quite a success, earning over $1 billion worldwide. In The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the film, Frank Scheck predicted its flourishment, writing, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie feels like a labor of love that should easily weather any nitpicking from purists. It should also prove a major cash cow for co-producers Nintendo, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures, with sequels and spin-offs virtually guaranteed.”

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. Matthew Fogel penned the screenplay while Horvath and Jelenic directed.
