St Johnstone stunned & Rankin quits Hamilton – Scottish Cup round-up

Two goals from Lewis McGrattan helped Airdrieonians ease to victory in the first Scottish Cup tie between the Lanarkshire rivals since 1970.

St Johnstone exited to an extra-time winner from Adam Emslie for a Cove side sitting second bottom of League 1 after Mitch Megginson’s second-half effort had cancelled out Uche Ikpeazu’s opener.

Second-half doubles from Connor Boyd and Kyle McAvoy secured victory for West of Scotland League side Auchinleck in Dumbarton.

East of Scotland League club Camelon took a second-half lead thorugh Ross Kavanagh and, although that was cancelled out by a late header from Edinburgh’s Lewis McArthur, Dean Watson struck in the first minute of added time.

Billy Davies avoided defeat in his first game as Greenock Morton interim boss thanks to a 5-3 win on penalties against third-tier Peterhead.

Veteran winger Niall McGinn put the League 1 hosts ahead, but two goals from Tomi Adeloye, the second a penalty, put the Championship side ahead only for the striker to be sent off and Kieran Shanks to equalise in stoppage time to send the tie into extra time.

Jordan Doherty’s first-half goal was enough to give Dougie Imrie a debut win as Raith Rovers manager against Alloa Athletic following his midweek switch from Morton.

League 2 Stranraer needed extra-time to edge 10-man Lowland League visitors Clydebank 2-1 thanks to a Ryan Edgar winner.

Jack Murray levelled deep in time added on and then scored in extra time as Elgin City beat fellow League 2 side Stirling Albion 4-2.

Highland League leaders Brechin City had veteran former Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan sent off as they lost 2-0 away to Kelty Hearts.

Striker Chris Kane scored a double for Dunfermline Athletic as the Championship side came from a goal behind to beat League 1 visitors Queen of the South.

Championship high-flyers Partick Thistle won 2-0 away to Forfar Athletic, Arbroath beat East Fife 2-0 and Ayr United eased to a 3-0 win over Highland League visitors Turriff United.

Highland League sides Clachnacuddin, Banks O’Dee and Buckie Thistle lost to Stenhousemuir, Ross County and Montrose respectively.

West of Scotland League side Benburb lost to Annan Athletic, while Spartans beat Bonnyrigg Rose from the Lowland League.
