‘Titanic’ Parody ‘Titanique’ to Open on Broadway

“Titanique,” a campy Off Broadway hit, will open on Broadway in the spring. The show is a low-fi musical parody of James Cameron’s disaster epic “Titanic” that uses Céline Dion’s music to retell the movie’s events from the pop diva’s perspective.
“Titanique” will run for 16 weeks at the St. James Theatre, which recently housed the short-lived run of Kristin Chenoweth and Stephen Schwartz’s musical “House of Versailles.” Previews for “Titanique” will begin on March 26 ahead of opening night on April 12. Closing night is set for July 12.
Marla Mindelle, the show’s co-creator who appeared on Broadway in “Sister Act” and “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” will reprise her role as Céline Dion. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Co-written by Tye Blue and Constantine Rousouli, “Titanique” seeks to find out “what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night” while infusing Dion’s greatest hits including “My Heart Will Go On,” “All By Myself” and “To Love You More.” The New York Times review praised the show’s wacky humor, writing “‘Titanique’ comes into its own as it revs up into increasing absurdity and the actors try to out-ham one another.”
“Titanique” opened Off Broadway in June 2022 and ran for three years — first at the underground Asylum Theatre before transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre — before closing in June 2025. While it played in New York, the musical also toured in Sydney, London, Chicago and Paris.
Blue will direct on Broadway. The creative team also includes choreographer Ellenore Scott (“Ragtime,” “Funny Girl”); music supervisor, arranger, and orchestrator Nicholas James Connell; scenic designer Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Lauchbacher for Iron Bloom Creative Production; costume designer Alejo Vietti (“Beautiful,” “Smash”), lighting designer Paige Seber; sound designer Lawrence Schober; and hair and wig designer Charles G.LaPointe (“Death Becomes Her”). Casting is by the Telsey Office and Rachel Hoffman.
