Newcastle United defeated West Ham United 3-1 to give the St. James’ Park faithful a good send off ahead of the summer break. The Magpies are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as they look to revamp Eddie Howe’s squad.

It’s been a disappointing campaign with the Toon set to miss out on European football, barring a minor miracle on the final day of the season. As a result, several Newcastle stars have been linked with moves away from St. James’ Park.

That being said, Newcastle are also being linked with a number of exciting, up-and-coming stars as they look to change their approach in the summer transfer market.

ChronicleLive has taken a look at the latest Newcastle United transfer news and speculation:

Newcastle ‘transfer talks held’

Foot Mercato claims Newcastle have held talks with AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara this summer, with several stars set to leave the Ligue 1 club after missing out on Champions League football.

The report does not state whether the Magpies missing out on European football will have any bearing on a proposed transfer.

The report claims Camara will be available for a fee in the region of €50m (£43.5m) but United will also face competition from Liverpool for the highly-rated midfielder this summer.

ChronicleLive says: “Newcastle have tracked the Senegal international for some time but central midfield is an area of the pitch that doesn’t need addressing unless members of the squad leave. If Joe Willock or Sandro Tonali leaves the club, then the Magpies could head into the transfer market.”

Sandro Tonali move ruled out

Corriere Della Sera claims Juventus have already ruled out a move for Sandro Tonali this summer, amid transfer talk linking the Italian international with a move back home.

The report claims the Magpies’ asking price for Tonali, with Premier League clubs circling this summer. It adds that Manchester United are at the front of the queue to sign the midfielder.

It’s claimed Luciano Spalletti was on board with talks, but an asking price in excess of €80m (£69.5m) has priced the Old Lady out.

ChronicleLive says: “It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Sandro Tonali repeatedly linked with a move away from St. James’ Park this summer. However, he’s such a key component of the Magpies’ squad, the club are only going to sell for big money. Italian clubs are going to struggle to compete financially and meet those demands.”
