Sharks place veteran D Leddy on waivers

The San Jose Sharks have placed veteran defenceman Nick Leddy on waivers Sunday.
Leddy, 34, has appeared in just 19 games for the Sharks this season, notching four assists. He last played in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, logging 17:27 of ice time with one assist.
Acquired by the Sharks off waivers from the St. Louis Blues in the off-season, Leddy missed 11 straight games earlier in the season while dealing with an upper-body injury and has been in and out of the Sharks lineup since then.
The 6-foot left-shot defenceman is in the final season of a four-year, $16 million contract that carries a cap hit of $4 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Drafted 16th overall by the Minnesota Wild in 2009, Leddy has 75 goals and 419 points in 1,060 career games split between the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, Blues, and Sharks.
Leddy helped the Blackhawks to their second Stanley Cup championship in three seasons in 2013.
