Love Island: Millie Court and Liam Reardon’s breakup and relationship explained

Love Island All Stars is finally back on screens, and it’s the perfect distraction from the January blues. Once again, a string of former contestants have headed back into the Love Island villa for a second (and in some cases third and fourth) chance at finding love. Some of the familiar faces on this season include Whitney Adebayo, Scott van-der-Sluis, Belle Hassan, Shaq Muhammad, Charlie Frederick, and more. There are also a few former winners in Love Island All Stars this year, like Jess Harding and Millie Court.

Speaking of Millie, many fans have been wondering what happened between her and her ex-boyfriend, Liam Reardon. They won the show back in 2021, and fans thought they’d be endgame. Here’s a rundown of Millie and Liam’s relationship, from their time in the season seven villa to their breakup…

Love Island’s Mille Court and Liam Reardon relationship timeline

Summer 2021

Liam entered the Love Island villa as a bombshell in season seven back in 2021 and initially coupled up with Faye. Just four days later, though, Millie bomshelled her way onto the show and sparks immediately sparked between her and Liam.

At the second recoupling, Liam went with Millie instead of Faye, and the pair formed a seemingly tight bond. But when Casa Amor came around, Liam got a little (read: a lot) too friendly with the new girls.

While Millie remained faithful to her man back in the Main Villa, Liam let temptation get the better of him, sharing a bed with newbie Lillie and several snogs, too. That said, when the time came to make a decision, Liam chose to stick rather than twist and returned to the Main Villa to be with Millie.

Liam didn’t get away with his Casa Amor antics, though. Rightfully pissed off at Liam’s behaviour, Lillie gave all the tea to Millie, who was less than impressed with what he’d been up to. This prompted Millie to pause things with Liam, sending him to sleep outside.

Determined to make things up to Millie, Liam later declared his feelings for her in front of the whole group, even calling her his “soulmate”. After that, the pair reunited and went from strength to strength as the weeks passed, sharing an “I love you” on their final date, and ultimately reaching the finale episode as boyfriend and girlfriend.

Millie and Liam won season seven with a massive 42% of the vote, beating Chloe and Toby, Faye and Teddy, and Kaz and Tyler. The pair decided to split the £50,000 prize money and left the show on a high note.

September 2021

After leaving the Love Island villa, Millie and Liam enjoyed a few private dates with each other and then made their first public appearance as a couple at the National Television Awards in September 2021. Later that month, Liam took Millie back to his hometown in Wales and introduced her to his family and friends.

November 2021

Just months after leaving the villa, Millie and Liam announced their plans to move in together. Taking to Instagram, the pair confirmed they’d found an apartment to live in in Essex, writing: “Starting a new chapter 😊🔐🏡🤍.”

July 2022

In an Instagram post that shocked fans, Millie revealed she and Liam had called it quits just one year on from Love Island season seven.

“Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation, Liam and I wanted to share with you that we have separated. It’s been a tough decision and I am gutted but it’s ultimately what is best for us right now,” she wrote on her Story at the time. “Thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship.”

April 2023

Eagle-eyed fans spotted clues on social media that Millie and Liam might have reunited. This was further fueled by a source who spoke to The Sun at the time. “They both popped in to pick up their takeaway,” an onlooker, who spotted the pair on holiday in the Lake District, said. “He was wearing a hoodie, but she strolled in with her sunglasses on her head. Every Love Island fan in the place knew who they were – Liam’s name even came up on the screen with his order.”

May 2023

Fans continued to spot more clues that Millie and Liam had reunited, including a mystery man speaking in the background of a TikTok and a selfie of them on a cruise together.

June 2023

Clues aside, Liam dashed hopes of a reunion with Millie in June 2023. He told the Mail Online: “There are a lot of rumours going around about me and Millie being back together… we are very good friends, we are very close friends… and we have been that way since the day we met.”

“People can make their own assumptions and that’s up to them,” he continued. “But I will leave you with the fact that we’re really good friends. We are friends for now… we are just very good friends.”

July 2023

Despite shutting down reunion rumours just one month before, the former couple were spotted holding hands at the Barbie premiere in July 2023.

August 2023

Millie and Liam made their reunion Instagram official in August 2023, sharing a photo together and following each other back on the app.

Speaking about what went down between them, Millie said at the time:”It didn’t end sourly, it wasn’t that kind of breakup. It was a decision that we needed a break.”

“I think we both knew it wasn’t going to be something that ended forever,” she went on. “I think we knew it was something we wanted to revisit, but it was time that we needed. We managed to make it work again and now it’s better than ever.”

December 2023

Millie joined Liam in Wales, and the pair celebrated Christmas together with his family.

September 2024

After a year of sharing loved-up posts for each other and going on romantic holidays, Millie and Liam announced the launch of their own podcast.

“Eeeekkkkk!! IT’S OFFICIAL, Liam and I have launched our very own podcast,” Millie wrote on Instagram. “As we navigate our long-distance relationship and everything in between, we thought, why not bring you along on the ride!”

She went on: “Sometimes we’ll be filming together and sometimes apart in our Wales and Essex homes, catching up on everything we got up to that week, our funny stories, our arguments, what really happened between us, and so much more.”

December 2024

Millie and Liam spend Christmas 2024 together in Australia, documenting it all on social media, of course.

August 2025

Millie gushed about Liam on Instagram for his birthday in August 2025. “Happy birthday to my best friend,” she said. “What a crazy little life we live… from our very first meet televised on national TV, to our long distance real life Gavin & Stacey love story.”

Millie continued: “I’m so proud of everything you have achieved and the man you have become. I love you.”

September 2025

Just one month after Millie’s loved-up Instagram post for Liam’s birthday, the pair called it quits for a second time.

“Millie and Liam have tried so hard to make their relationship work. But unfortunately, the distance was just too difficult and they have sadly ended their relationship for a second time,” a source told The Sun. “Obviously, they’ve worked things out before, so friends are hoping this might just be a blip as it’s all still very fresh. But right now they are spending time apart. Everyone who loves them hopes they can work it out.”

Why did Love Island’s Mille Court and Liam Reardon break up?

Millie and Liam have not publicly addressed the reason for their second, and seemingly final, breakup. That said, an insider claimed to the Mail Online that Liam initiated the breakup because he “wasn’t feeling it” anymore. Following that, the pair stopped producing episodes of their podcast, which was a pretty definite sign that they’d split.

Now, Millie is back on Love Island and ready to find love again. “I’m still the same person that I was four years ago,” she said before entering the villa. “I’m going to stay true to myself as I did the first time, enjoy it, do a bit of flirting… it’s all going to be fun vibes.”

Speaking to potential love match Charlie in the villa, Millie this week admitted that her relationship with Liam ended long before they actually split. “I think it was over before it was actually over,” she said. “Our relationship changed Christmas last year.”

Millie added that she has no plans to reunite with Liam after their most recent breakup, and is keen to move on. “Everyone’s got a different timeline of getting over someone, and I’m ready,” she said.

Love Island continues on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm.
