2026 has already seen its fair share of winter storms, and another day of nasty weather has forced more closures for schools across the island. Some schools in central and western Newfoundland have already announced that they’ll be closed for the full day, including schools in Lewisporte and Springdale. Meanwhile, a greater number of schools will be closed for the morning, with an update coming between 10:30 and 11. Schools in Stephenville, Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander, Twillingate, Clarenville, Bay Roberts, Carbonear, and many more will all wait to see if they will re-open. Several other schools, including those in Marystown, will have a delayed opening by two hours. A full list of affected schools can be found here.
