Rosenior on his bond with Chelsea supporters after an unforgettable night | News | Official Site

There is a relationship at Chelsea that carries great significance to Liam Rosenior. It motivates him as the club’s head coach. It makes him proud and appreciative. And it is with the Blues supporters.

Rosenior has overseen six matches as Chelsea head coach, five of which have ended in victory. At the end of each, he has shown his appreciation to those who have followed the Blues over land and sea.

That was the case on Wednesday evening in Naples. After watching his side claim an important 3-2 victory at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Rosenior joined his players in applauding the travelling Chelsea faithful, who reciprocated joyously in a moment that touched the 41-year-old.

‘Those supporters were amazing,’ Rosenior reflected during his press conference ahead of today’s Premier League clash with West Ham United.

‘I think every manager has their own personality, and I can only speak in terms of myself, but the supporters were incredible in terms of the noise they made. I will never forget the atmosphere of that game.

‘They have paid so much money to fly to another country, and probably missed days of work, so for them to give me any type of recognition, I have to give it back to them because I want to thank them.

‘Also, we had fans out there who were injured supporting us, so I always have maximum respect for the fans.’

After back-to-back away matches, both of which saw the Blues score three goals and celebrate victories, we return to Stamford Bridge this evening to welcome West Ham.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side make the trip across the capital following a morale-boosting victory over Sunderland last time out, and Rosenior has emphasised the influence Chelsea supporters can have in another high-profile London derby.

He said: ‘They make a huge difference, and they are the club. To see them happy and singing for the club, and to play a part in that, makes me very proud. It motivates me to want it to happen even more.’
