Entered in the Abu Dhabi WTA 500, Belinda Bencic was set to make her debut on Wednesday against Sonay Kartal. In the end, just minutes before her match was due to start, the Swiss withdrew due to illness.
Replaced by Renata Zarazua
As defending champion, she will lose her 500 points and her Top 10 spot to Ekaterina Alexandrova. She will be replaced by Renata Zarazua, who had retired from qualifying due to illness as well.
