Lorenzo Hunt vs. David Mundell BKFC KnuckleMania VI Breakdown from Ex-Champ Who Fought Both

Lorenzo Hunt and David Mundell will clash in a massive matchup at this weekend’s BKFC extravaganza, with a prior adversary of both weighing in on the bout. The combatant in question is Mike Richman, who battles Joe Elmore at BKFC KnuckleMania VI on February 7th.

Considering his history with both Lorenzo Hunt and David Mundell, when asked for his thoughts on the showdown between the reigning champs at light heavyweight and middleweight, respectively, at the promotion’s annual tentpole event, Richman said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“Yeah, I mean that fight is an epic fight. Me, obviously I fought them both. As a prize fighter myself and I love to fight and I love the sport. I love the business. I love it all. But I’m also a fight fan, you know, and I’m still a fight fan. I still watch the bare knuckle fights. I still enjoy it as a fan as well. That is a phenomenal fight. It’s going to be a phenomenal fight to watch, to be there, to be a part of it.”

“It’s really going to be interesting because Mundell is very slick. Southpaw, he reminds me of like a younger version of me. Very, very slick with his hands. He’s got good power in both his right hand and his left hand as a southpaw. He’s got a nice left, lead right hook with a straight, with a good overhand left hand. I mean, he’s got all the tools to beat Lorenzo, you know what I mean?”

“He hits; I think punch for punch and it’s easy for me to say, right? I mean I got a TKO loss to Mundell and a KO loss to Lorenzo who had me snoozing. But I think punch for punch, Mundell’s accuracy I think he has more like punch for punch power like every shot more powerful with Mundell.

“Where obviously Hunt has shown he can land the fastball Hail Mary and put you to sleep. So like it’s going to be really interesting, man. I’m excited to see that fight, you know, for me to get back after my fight, get back in the back, and try to see that in time.”

Mike Richman: David Mundell sequel is more likely, but also open to a Lorenzo hunt rematch

After Saturday’s clash with Joe Elmore, the former BKFC light heavyweight champion has aspirations to vie for gold as low as welterweight with a potential sophomore bid for Mundell’s middleweight crown in his focus. But that doesn’t necessarily also rule out a potential sequel with ‘The Juggernaut’ Lorenzo Hunt, as Richman stated [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“I don’t know how many more times Lorenzo will keep cutting to ’85. I know that’s a big cut for him, but he does it. He still comes down to want to establish himself as the guy at ’85 and props to him for that. I don’t know how many more he’s going to do that because he has his own aspirations of weight brackets that he’s going after. You know, in my own right, I’m trying to do the same thing and a little bit lower. He’s doing it at a higher rate, you know, from middleweight, cruiserweight, to heavyweight.”

“I’m much more on a path. You know, Lorenzo’s on his path and I kind of want my path. The only way Lorenzo and I would ever link up and fight each other again is if I said I’m going back to ’85 or maybe, you know; I already told [David] Feldman I want to be in the baddest man, that openweight, ’85 to heavyweight tournament. But he was kind of ‘I don’t know, Mike, if you want to drop all the way down to ’65, we can’t have you hopping all over the place.’”

“So, we’ll see. But I’m more likely on a path to cross paths with Mundell again than I am to cross paths with Lorenzo again. Because I do have aspirations to fight at both ’65 and ’75. It just depends on after this fight, what’s going to be next, what’s aligned. You know, 165 there’s a bunch of huge names in that division. I think 175 is still lacking star name drawing power and I’m sure Mundell feels that because looking for good quality talent to fight him. Then I think that’s why he wants [Mike] Perry so bad.”

“Then now obviously the Lorenzo fight. I could definitely see the winner of Lorenzo-Mundell fight, I can definitely see Perry being like, “Alright, cool. I’ll fight one of you guys. I’ll fight the winner, but pay me that money.” You know, Perry wants that big money as he should. You know, he deserved that.”
