Athens weekly concert preview: Drive-By Truckers, MJ Lenderman, Libbaloops and more

With slightly warmer temperatures compared to previous weeks, locals and students alike can enjoy what concerts Athens has to offer.

The Red & Black has compiled a list of concerts for the week ahead, including performances from Drive-By Truckers and MJ Lenderman.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 14

Drive-By Truckers: HeAthens Homecoming 2025

Who: Drive-By Truckers, an Athens-based rock band, hosts an annual residency at the 40 Watt Club to benefit Nuçi’s Space. Special guests include MJ Lenderman, T. Hardy Morris, Camp Amped Band // The Lanes and Florry. The schedule can be found here. 

Where: 40 Watt Club, 285 W. Washington St. 

When: Feb. 11 through Feb. 14. Doors open at 7 p.m. and shows begin at 8 p.m.

Price: Each night is sold out. Wednesday and Thursday resale tickets can be purchased here.

 

Thursday, Feb. 12

Shadowgrass

Who: A “fast picking” bluegrass band inspired by each member’s diverse musical influences.

Where: Georgia Theatre, 215 N. Lumpkin St.

When: Feb. 12. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Feb. 13

Katie Collins

Who: Katie Collins is a singer/songwriter based in Athens celebrating the release of her album “She’s a Tenor.” Ticket sales will benefit The Cottage Sexual Assault and Children’s Advocacy Center.  

Where: Hendershot’s, 237 Prince Ave.

When: Feb. 13 at 8 p.m.

Price: $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased here. 

 

Saturday, Feb. 14

Looping Ladies Showcase: Drí, Annie Leeth, Libbaloops

Who: Drí is the project of Athens-based singer, songwriter and percussionist Adriana Thomas. Annie Leeth is a producer and violinist based in Athens who loops drums, synths and strings. Libbaloops is an electronic looping artist based in Athens who performs “fun and interactive shows.”

Where: Dead Beat Club, 585 Barber St., suite A

When: Feb. 14. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.

Price: $10

Athens Goth Night Dance Party

Who: A gothic dance party. DJs will include DJ Crowe, DJ TombLily, who spins deathrock, post-punk and goth, Twin Powers, a member of Booty Boyz and DJ Goth Dad, a member of Vision Video. 

Where: Ciné, 234 W. Hancock Ave.

When: Feb. 14. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show begins at 10 p.m.

Price: $10 

 

Monday, Feb. 16

Drink the Sea

Who: A band composed of songwriters from R.E.M., Screaming Trees and Them Crooked Vultures. Their music comes from each member’s diverse musical experience and contains a wide array of instruments.

Where: 40 Watt Club, 285 W. Washington St.

When: Feb. 16. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 17

Historic Athens Mardi Gras

Who: Historic Athens’ 8th annual Mardi Gras will feature performances from Mary & the Hot Hotty-Hots (a band playing jazz and swing music from the 1910s-1930s) and Bichos Vivos (a local forró band performing party music from Brazil featuring an accordion and a zabumba).

Where: 40 Watt Club, 285 W. Washington St.

When: Feb. 17. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

Price: $42.42 in advance, $83.82 for VIP admission. Tickets can be purchased here.
