If you’re still on line to learn what, exactly, a short is, please stay on line. HBO is renewing Industry for a fifth and final season, the network confirmed today. The announcement comes ahead of the upcoming fourth-season finale on March 1. Viewership for the series is at an all-time high, with the show averaging 1.7 million viewers per episode and growing.
“For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high,” Industry creators Konrad Kay and Mickey Down said in a statement. “Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party. We’d like to thank our evangelical fan base, especially those who have watched from day one. Finally: We owe everything to our crew and the best cast on TV for making our writing live. The characters will live on because of their world class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future.”
Given that the show has already had murder, insider trading, pegging, and so, so many drugs, it’s hard to know what Kay and Down will think up to top themselves in the final season.
