Amy Madigan Wins First Actor Award for Supporting Actress in ‘Weapons’: “I’ve Been Doing This a Long A** Time”

Amy Madigan won the trophy for best female actor in a supporting role at the 2026 Actor Awards.
Madigan, 75, who portrays Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s original horror film Weapons, took to the stage to accept the award. “It’s such an honor to be here. I’ve been doing this a long ass time,
and I have never been nominated by the SAG committee and by the [Screen Actors] Guild,” she said. “I’m a proud member, and I keep getting asked tonight, ‘What is it about this night?’ I said, ‘Because actors love other actors. They just love being with them. We want to be working with them.’”
She continued, “I’m a union person. I come from Chicago. Everybody in my family, all my friends, relatives, we’re all union people, and I don’t care what somebody says, they’re not going to bust us.”
Madigan continued to thank the cast. “All of the little kids who ran around with us. I did terrorize them, but I let them rip me apart, so it was OK,” she said.
She then joked about the Actor Awards trophy. Let’s see. What does he have here anyway? Sorry, I digress. It was like when you were little, and you had the Barbie and then you got Ken, and you whipped down his drawers and you went, ‘Ken has nothing!’ Anyway, I really am digressing. I apologize. As you can tell, I’m nervous and I’m just overwhelmed and so happy. Thank you, everybody.”
Her fellow nominees included Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme), Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners), Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another) and Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good), who didn’t attend the show due to rehearsing for her upcoming tour, according to People.
Since Weapons was so beloved among audiences and critics, receiving a 93 percent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, fans have been longing for a prequel film centered on Aunt Gladys.
“Zach has a map of what he would like to do. But as we know about this business — until it’s real, it’s not real,” Madigan said in December. “It would be such a blast, and it would be really great if we could revisit her in some way. I’m excited about that possibility.”
Madigan is also nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress on March 15. It’s her second Academy Award nom, she was nominated for 1985’s Twice in a Lifetime.
The 32nd annual Actor Awards was held at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday night with Kristen Bell as the host. See the full list of 2026 Actor Awards winners here and all of the stars who walked the red carpet here.
