Public health alert issued for frozen meat products sold at popular retailer

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert for frozen ready-to-eat meat products sold at a popular retailer.
According to a public health alert published on March 13, frozen ready-to-eat stuffed pastries sold at Costco may contain the incorrect product, posing a risk to people allergic to the unexpected ingredients.
The affected pastries were packaged on February 18, 2026, and may contain ham and cheese instead of turkey pesto and swiss cheese. The specific product affected was: “25.4-oz. boxes containing eight pieces of ‘LA BOULANGERIE TURKEY PESTO & SWISS CHEESE POCKETS’ with lot code 04926 and “best by” date 02/18/27 printed on the packaging.”
The USDA mark of inspection has the establishment number “P-51243A.” The affected products were distributed to Costco stores in the Midwest United States.
“The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that it received two consumer complaints regarding turkey and cheese stuffed pastry boxes containing ham and cheese instead,” the alert read.
