Netflix has unveiled the casting of all four main roles in its new live-action “Scooby-Doo” TV series.

The show will star Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones and Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers.

Grace is coming off performances in the horror sequels “Scream 7” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” and she’ll appear later this year in the latest “Hunger Games” prequel, “Sunrise on the Reaping.” She’s also known for her roles in “Gifted” and the “Ghostbusters” franchise.

Who else is in the live action ‘Scooby-Doo’?

Fortson, meanwhile, is best known for her lead role in the 2023 movie adaptation of “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.” She also played Cassie Lang, daughter of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, in Marvel’s first two “Ant-Man” movies. Kathryn Newton took over the role in the third film.

Jenkins previously starred in the Netflix reboot of “Lost in Space” and has also had credits on “Sense8” and the movie “Arcadian.” Of the four actors, Hagen is the least well-known, but his credits include a Season 1 episode of “The Pitt.”

What is the new ‘Scooby-Doo’ show about?

The new “Scooby-Doo” is described as a “modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog,” which Netflix says will show how the gang “first teamed up to crack the haunting case that started it all.”

“During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder,” the logline reads.

“Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”

The show is being executive-produced by Greg Berlanti, the TV producer known for his work on The CW’s interconnected Arrowverse shows, as well as shows including “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and “Riverdale.”

The Netflix show marks the first-ever live-action “Scooby-Doo” television series. The characters were previously brought to life in a pair of movies in the early 2000s starring Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Linda Cardellini as Velma and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy.

Grace’s last two films, “Scream 7” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” also starred Lillard, and she told Entertainment Tonight the actor was one of the first people she told about her “Scooby-Doo” casting.

“Scooby-Doo” has also spawned numerous animated shows over the years, from the original “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” to more recent incarnations like “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” and “Velma.” The latter starred Mindy Kaling as the voice of Velma. An animated “Scooby-Doo” movie called “Scoob!” also debuted in 2020.
